About Clos L’Église
One of Pomerol’s Grand Crus, Clos L’Église is located in the heart of Pomerol. Its vines date back to the 18th century. Owned by S.Garcan-Cathiard, this six hector property produces an average of 2,800 cases per year. Located in the centre-east of the Pomerol appellation, next to Chateau Clinet, the property shares a similar climate to that enjoyed by both St. Emilion & Pomerol.
In 1997 it was brought for 12 million Euros (a record at the time for Pomerol) by Sylvaine Garcin Cathiard, sister of Daniel Cathiard who owns Château Smith Haut Lafitte.
The winemakers Hélène & Patrice Levêque meticulously observe each stage of the growth cycle – using traditional vinification and aging in oak barrels for 14 months.
The vibrant wine is intensely fruity with significant depth and structure.
