Celebrity Mixologist Arijit Bose Creates Exclusive MONKEY 47 Gin Cocktails for InterContinental Hong Kong’s Lobby Lounge

Join Celebrity Mixologist Arijit Bose, one of the Top 10 Bartenders in Singapore and previously Head Bartender at the famous 28 Hong Kong street in Singapore  (#7 on the list of the ‘50 best bars of the world’) at InterContinental Hong Kong‘s  Lobby Lounge on Tuesday, May 23 for an evening of MONKEY 47 Gin Cocktails he has created exclusively for InterContinental Hong Kong.

About Celebrity Bartender Arijit Bost

As the previous Head Bartender and ‘Man of The House’, Arijit Bose loved his adventure at the famous 28 Hong Kong street in Singapore which jumped to #7 from the #10 position under his care as presented in the ‘50 best bars of the world’. He quickly became a vibrant part of the Singapore cocktail scene, having conceptualised and run PCO, a speakeasy 1920’s bar in New Delhi. He also started cocktail outfits Getafix and The Delhi Cocktail Club to push the boundaries of good drinking in India.

Arijit has worked in nightclubs and bars, presided over beverage training programmes across India, and acted as a sales and marketing executive with Bacardi India. This led to a role as the Bacardi Brand Ambassador for India. He’s continued a life of international travel, spreading the word of cocktails and Indian Bartending.

Arijit’s most recent achievements include being named:

  • One of the 50 Most Influential Young Indians under the age of 40
  • Best International Bar Team at Tales of the Cocktail (2015)

About Monkey 47

Monkey 47 draws on the eccentric recipe of Montgomery Collins, the man responsible for the creation of the Schwarzwald dry gin.  The stages of his life in the first half of the twentieth century – a childhood as the son of a diplomat on the Indian subcontinent, a military career among the ruins of Berlin, and his late-adopted home in the Black Forest in Germany – provide the autobiographical background for its audacious combination of botanicals. Connoisseurs should thus not be surprised to discover both familiar aromas, native to the Black Forest and exotic spices stemming from Collins’ youth in India.

Monkey 47 is known for its unrivaled quality. It is batch distilled, handcrafted and unfiltered with no cold treatment. It is made from an eccentric and historic recipe using 47 regional and unusual botanicals. Lingonberries are used as a “Secret Weapon”, with natural spring water, using a masterly distillation process. It matures for 100 days in old clay tanks. The result is a highly awarded and coveted gin.

How MONKEY 47 got its name

Black Forest Distillers adopted Montgomery Collins’ eccentric and unique recipe in 2008. “We gave our Black Forest dry gin the name ‘Monkey 47’ in memory of Commander Collins and his monkey, Max, as well as in reference to the 47 botanicals it contains,“ says managing director and proprietor Alexander Stein.

This batch-distilled and unfiltered gin unites British traditions, the exotic allure of India, and the ancient, untouched roots of the Black Forest with unsurpassed artisanal skill. Just how much of Monkey 47’s natural environment goes into this unique gin? Well, a good third of the ingredients come straight from the Black Forest – spruce, cranberries, elderflower, blackthorn, and bramble leaves, to name just a few. Indeed, the Monkey owes its unrivalled complexity and quality to those 47 hand-picked botanicals, which are prepared in the softest local spring water and coaxed to their full potential through masterful distillation and maturation in traditional earthenware vessels.
