An Evening of Latin Pop & Jazz

Chill out each Thursday evening over an evening of upbeat Latin music showcasing the instrumental talents of Quantico Latino.

The group of five accomplished international musicians will perform a wide variety of Latin music ranging from Latin jazz, pop and dance music to classic tunes such as “Bolero” and the “Cha Cha”. Quantico Latino’s repertoire also includes Columbian and Mexican grooves.

Anthony Fernandes – Drums / Band Leader
Anthony Fernandes is one of the most in-demand drummers in Asia, especially for concerts and regional tours with the top Cantopop Artists from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Originally from India, he joined the Sonny Lobos Band at the Oberoi Grand Hotel in Calcutta, India at age 15 and became Band Leader at just 18 years, making him the youngest bandleader in the country.

He first moved to Hong Kong in 1989 and worked with a Dixieland band.  He then went to the USA in 1992 to study arranging & composing at the prestigious Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles.
Anthony then moved back to Hong Kong and became the house drummer for the acclaimed Jazz Club where he performed with visiting jazz & blues greats and composers from around the world, including the Grammy and Academy Award winner Michel Legrand. He later formed a popular band called Nogabe which played all original compositions in the Malagasi language and arranged all the songs and produced its albums. He also runs his own Big Band.

Samson De Guzman – Keyboard
Originally from Olongapo City, Subic Bay, Zambales, Samson de Guzman has 37 years of experience as  a professional pianist with an wide and diverse repertoire, ranging from all-time favourites  to light classics and jazz.

He first performed with the family band named after his father, who was a famous sax player in Manila during the 1950s, at the Mandarin Hotel in Makati, Philippines in 1981, backing-up live performances by famous singers. In 1982 the “Perry de Guzman Band” moved to Singapore and performed with international talent at "KASBAH" at the Mandarin Hotel Singapore. Samson then spent four years performing on the Coral Princess cruise ship. He first came to Hong Kong in 1989 and played solo at the famous JK’s (French) Restaurant at the Peak. Since then he been become veteran musician at a variety of Hong Kong’s top hotels.

Franklin Torres – Bass
Franklin hails from the north coast of Colombia in South America. His main instrument is the bass guitar, however, following his many years of musical studies in his native Colombia and his vast international musical experience, he also plays the guitar, double bass, and varied instruments of the Latin percussion family including the congas, bongos and Timbales. Franklin is also an accomplished singer and can perform in multiple languages, including English, Chinese, Hindi and Russian. He has a unique proficiency for harmonies, melodies and rhythms and a wide range of musical genres. 

Erick Martinez – Guitar
Erick is a certified guitarist, music composer, producer, singer and music instructor. His musical specialties are the classic guitar, bass guitar, percussion, vigüela & guitarron. He graduated with the highest honors from the best music universities in Mexico - the Conservatorio de las Rosas and the University of Arts, both in Morelia, Mexico. Since 2004, he has worked internationally (in Spain, South America, Hong Kong & Mainland China).  

John Campo – Trumpet
Born into a musical family, at the age of seven, John started studying the trumpet. He was a music student at the University of Santo Thomasz Conservatory of Music in the Philippines and 1st place prizewinner of the National Music Competition for Young Artists. John was a soloist, principal trumpet and assistant conductor of the Philippine Air Force Band from 1993-1999.  In 2005 he moved to Hong Kong and was lead trumpet player at Hong Kong Disneyland for three years.  

John has performed with many famous international and Cantopop artists and groups and is one of the top trumpet players in Hong Kong for session recordings and big local and international musical productions.  He also conducts and instructs the bands and orchestras for various schools in Hong Kong. He is the brass instructor for the Parsons Wind Orchestra and an Advanced Diploma Teacher for Trumpet at Parsons Music School.
